With over 15,000 data records, the BAUGERÄTELISTE (BGL) 2025 is the world's largest catalogue for construction machinery and equipment and has been the recognised standard work for the allocation of equipment costs for many decades. It contains all types and sizes of equipment commonly used for construction work and construction site equipment. Construction site equipment and tools are not included. No makes or type designations are listed in the construction equipment list. The individual items contain average technical and economic values, supplemented by explanations on design and equipment as well as for operational use. With the ten-digit categorisation system used, almost all construction equipment, additional equipment and ancillary equipment can be clearly described. The construction equipment list is used in the construction sector in the following areas in particular:

• Basis for the internal and inter-company allocation of equipment costs, e.g. between equipment management and the construction site or between joint ventures and their shareholders
• Basis for the organisation and scheduling of equipment in construction companies
• Tool for the assessment of equipment and machine costs, in particular for profitability comparisons
• Aids for operational planning and work preparation with regard to the selection and assessment of equipment deployment
• Tools for investment planning, accounting and tax valuation
• Tools for valuation in the event of insurance claims, expert reports and court decisions
